Apex is one of the fastest-growing towns in the Triangle. Its commercial growth runs through Beaver Creek Commons, the Highway 64 corridor, and the older downtown around Salem Street, and it has created steady demand for licensed low-voltage and life-safety contractors who can keep up with new construction schedules.

New construction means the schedule is the job
Most of our Apex work is new construction or first-generation fit-out, and that changes what actually matters. On a retrofit, the hard part is the building. On new construction, the hard part is the calendar.
Low-voltage rough-in sits in a narrow window: after the framing and the in-wall electrical, before insulation and drywall. Miss it and the cost of the same work multiplies, because now it is fishing walls instead of stapling to open studs. General contractors run tight schedules on these projects and the low-voltage trade is usually the one expected to absorb everyone else’s slippage, since we are late in the sequence and our work is invisible.
The way you survive that is by over-sleeving and over-pathing at rough-in. Conduit and pathway are cheap while the walls are open and expensive forever after. When we rough in a building, we put in more pathway than the current drawings call for, because the drawings will change, and the tenant three years from now will need something nobody has thought of yet.
Downtown Salem Street is the other half
The older commercial buildings around downtown Apex are a completely different job from the Highway 64 corridor: small, occupied, historically sensitive, and short on pathway. Same town, opposite constraints.
